8 bit control of high voltage for musical purposes

Tesla coils are great physical theater, but can they be actual musical instruments? Recently I had the chance of collaborating with renowned chiptune artist Goto80 on his Son-Ionic album (https://www.goto80.com/son-ionic), combining C64 and Tesla coil sound. This talk explains how the album was produced, including the CHIME RED Tesla coil control system, and how to build one yourself.
